Introductions....

Hi, I guess it's time to introduce myself. My first name is Katie. You'll know me as Lizzie, derived from my middle name, Elizabeth. I'm glad to meet you! You could say that I'm mid 20's, although come September I will move to my late 20's. I have a great love for my family: Dad, Mom, 3 sisters, 2 brother-in-laws and as of today, our newest addition, my niece Zoe Jane! Unlike Carrie, I never used to dream about becoming a writer. I had a list of occupations that I wanted to try. I thought about teaching, painting, acting, becoming a midwife and so on and so forth. One of my greatest enjoyments in life though is a good story. I learned to read at the age of 4. My sister Amy kept coming home from first grade with all of these interesting books and I didn't want to miss out on the fun. From cover to cover I discovered that I could explore the jungle on the back of an elephant or camp out in a boxcar. I may find myself experiencing life during the civil war or I might land in the year of 2050. In the past five or ten years, when I've finished my latest novel, I always tell myself that it's time to share my story. Then I would ask the question, "What story is it that I want to share?" Through the course of many conversations, Carrie and I both realized that we had a heart to reach out to young adults and to confront some of the issues that they are facing today. It's been an exciting project thus far and I hope and pray that our readers will find themselves connecting with the characters in our story. I want them to find a slice of hope, even in the midst of trying times. So with that said......let the adventures begin. Join us on this journey through the unknown.
